OA's review of 2021 Nutmeg State Marathon.

Review

This was day 5 of the New England challenge the year I did it. By that point you've been seeing the same people over the last week so it was nice to see familiar faces to cheer you on and vice versa. There is no packet pickup or expo and you just grab your bib the morning of. Or reuse if you've done the other days. Race started in a parking lot by the golf course that the race runs around.. Parking in the parking lot where the race starts was super simple and close.

The race is small between the half and the full, and there were a handful of non racers and golfers around the course. You complete several loops of the same 2 ish mile loop and pass through the timing mat and aid station each lap(don't worry they’ll keep track and let you know when you're on your last one). I passed by my rental car each time which you could stock with snacks or drinks if you wanted.

Course was mostly flat with a downhill to start the loop and a bit of a climb to end the loop. I had about 600ft gain for the half. Weather was somehow perfect all week for distance races.

Good series to knock out 6 states if you're able to and have that as a goal. Lots of hotels not too far of a drive. And good sized airport nearby too.
